Cyber Safety

We are so lucky to have Mrs Grant visiting us from Manaiakalani every Wednesday to teach us all about using our iPads and cyber safety. This week we started exploring the app "Explain Everything" which we will be using a lot during our learning time in Hub 10.
We are already becoming experts with the iPads and are loving using them!

Chinese New Year

In Hub Tekau we have been learning all about Chinese New Year, which is a really special time for some of our learners and their families.
Today we watched a video and found out about Chinese New Year. We have been making lanterns, paper dragons and envelopes.

Breakthrough- Art

This week was our second week of breakthrough. We continued to build our knowledge by trying out different shapes and patterns we knew. We drew them on a large piece of paper and then discussed different colour combinations.
Next we chose one of our favourite animals to put patterns and colours on. We will continue this next week.

Collaboration activities

This week we have been continuing to get to know each other. We worked in small groups with people we did not know well or wanted to know better. We had to create a collaborative construction or piece of artwork. The teachers were impressed we were developing our collaboration skills and the children were pleased with their creations.

Meet the Teacher Presentation

Thank you to all those who were able to join us for the Meet the Teacher presentations last night. It was great to meet you all and get to know more about you and your child.
Below is the presentation if you were unable to attend. We also asked all parents to complete a series of questions about their child. We will be sending these home in  the book bags if you did not complete it. Please return to school by Friday 16th February.

Our first Pōwhiri

What an experience the pōwhiri was. Akomanga Tua Tekau learners determined singing made us so proud.
